Dorothea Hughes, Branch Executive Director
Dorothea was named Branch Director of the Skaneateles YMCA and Community Center in August 2010, moving from the position of associate executive director of the Auburn YMCA-WEIU. A Y professional for more than 35 years, her first introduction to the Y was as a summer camp counselor at Camp Y-Owasco. That experience proved life-changing. It was there that she first experienced the transformative impact that Y programs can have on individuals. Dorothea holds a bachelors’ degree from RIT. She provides leadership to carry out the vision and mission of the Y in the Skaneateles community
Sheila Card, Senior Program Director
A lifetime resident of Skaneateles, Sheila has shared her passion for all ages and stages with the Skaneateles community for more than 35 years. Sheila works diligently to make each day special for children to adults. In her role as Program Director, Sheila oversees preschool, child care, summer camp, learn to skate and family programs. She received her Master’s degree in Physical Education and NYS elementary certification from SUNY Cortland. Sheila’s mantra, “If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours; it costs you nothing but is priceless to those you meet."
Stephanie Bales, Director of Communications
As a lifelong Skaneateles resident, Stephanie has a unique perspective and dedication to the community that we serve. Her diverse background lends valuable insight to the marketing, public relation, and member services initiatives of our Y. Stephanie offers support for critical fundraising efforts which funds the Y financial assistance program which she oversees. Making personal connections with our members and learning about their stories is truly the most satisfying aspect of her position.
Matt Major, Facilities & Rink Director
A lifetime resident of Skaneateles, Matt has been working with our community providing recreational and leisure services since the early 1980’s. Matt manages the operations for both of our state of the art, year-round ice rinks. He maintains and develops ice programs for membership along with comprehensive ice schedules for all other hockey and skating organizations. In addition to the management of the ice rinks, he is responsible for all facility operation for the YMCA. Matt and his wife, Susan, live in Skaneateles with their three children and enjoy the outdoors and Skaneateles Lake.
Tiffanie Clark, Finance & Membership Director
Tiffanie has comprehensive accounting knowledge to manage the financial logistics of membership and programming at our Y. Through her 17 years in the financial industry, 5 of those years have been dedicated to the Skaneateles YMCA in her current position. Transitioning from the corporate environment to a not-for-profit, Tiffanie appreciates the community and family-oriented atmosphere that the Y offers. She is a strong advocate for how the Y can impact a family or individual because of how the Y has played a role in her life: childcare for her two sons and the opportunities to participate in healthy living.
